The holidays are here again and another year has flown by. Last year was uneventful, but looking back on it, it seems we had quite a bit of excitement. We hope you had a year full of blessing and good things too. If we haven’t talked recently, we hope to get some news from you with your holiday card.
Our social life pretty much revolves around doctor appointments. The doctors keep us going pretty well despite ourselves and the clock. At the moment, Sylvia manages although with nagging back pain and plantar fasciitis. Jerry has a broken shoulder, but with good behavior should be out of the sling by the end of the year and without surgery. That’s what happens to old men who climb ladders. Phantom, of course, is fit and always ready to “go.”
Sylvia and Phantom continue as a team doing their “therapy” work. They frequently go out to the local hospice and as well as home visits to hospice patients. They have a new “gig” as well. Phantom has joined the “Runway Rovers,” dogs that visit travelers at the local airport. Jerry is pretty lazy but still helps at the animal shelter and with the local Bluebird society. He is proud that his short trail fledged 51 bluebirds, 43 tree swallows and 9 wrens this past year.
The biggest news of the year is that we have begun downsizing from the lake to a smaller home in town, moving back to Bentonville where we started our retirement in 2001. Jerry is particularly happy that the lawn is flat. We expect to be in the new house about the first of the year and put this house up for sale in February or so. Our doors are open if you are ever in our area. We would love to see you and show you around.
We continued travel adventures, this year joining twin sister Joyce and hubby Kenn for 10 days in Mongolia and another three days in Siberia. A pretty fantastic trip, but difficult to describe...a trip not intended for the feint of heart nor not for the hungry if you are going to stay with the locals.
