A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to You!

December 2018

We are looking forward to the holidays and are feeling very grateful for the good year behind us. We enjoyed our time with many of you that we saw during the year. Whether we saw you or not, we hope you had a great year and that the new year will be even better for you and your family.

Although we have slowed down a little, we both keep pretty busy. Fortunately, we both maintain good health for our ages. Our doctors make up the better part of our social life.

The most important part of our busy days was the “therapy team” – Phantom and Sylvia. Several times a week they “work” at the local hospice and at the senior day care center. Frequently they go other places, such as “at-home” hospice and schools. Phantom had a couple of bad experiences with bed alarms at the hospice. As he no longer wants to go into patients’ rooms, he has been demoted to front door “greeter.”

Jerry is less useful, but claims he is very productive. Among the few things he gets around to doing regularly is supporting our local Animal Shelter and our local Bluebird Society. His big project for the year was making a new weather station using his last year’s Christmas presents – a 3D printer and a couple of Raspberry Pi micro-computers. Just the printing took several months, but he got it all wired, put together and painted. Unfortunately it doesn’t work. He blames the analog-to-digital converter.

Travel was a big part of 2018. We joined sister Joyce and hubby Kenn for a great trip to Norway and Finland. We petted reindeer and we ate them as well, but left Rudolph for his annual Christmas trip. We really liked the people and the scenery, but the weather was terrible. You can see the photo album at http://argets.com/index.php?/category/22.

Two weeks later we went to England, visiting Sylvia’s family for a week, and then another seven days returning aboard the Queen Mary II. Great trip – both parts, and the QM2 is not a jet, so no jet lag. We also visited Omaha, Schmeckfest (SD), Minnesota, Montana, Missouri, Tennesee, South Dakota, and South Carolina. Two of Jerry’s sisters and Sylvia’s youngest brother, Frank, and wife, Christine, visited. For five days of the two weeks they were here, we traveled an enjoyable 5-day loop through north and central Arkansas via Memphis.

Our doors are open if you are ever in our area. We would love to see you.

Happy Holidays!
