Reflections -- Sylvia & Jerry

Season's Greetings from the Argetsingers

December 2009

The years continue to fly. This year has been even more eventful than most. We continue to be blessed and hope you have been as well. May your 2010 be even better. At this moment Sylvia is recovering from major back surgery to fuse several vertebrae. She is doing very well, thanks to a new procedure that uses clamps instead of screws. Otherwise we both remain happy and healthy, looking to being Medicare eligible in 2010. Sadie does even better and won't be eligible for Social Security for many dog-years.

This year's BIG, annual holiday may have been the best ever. We joined Jerry's twin sister Joyce and hubby Kenn, for 17-days in northern India. Our 4th day was March 1st, our 64th birthday. All the sights, sounds, and smells of India were extremely vibrant and exciting. Everything was new and different. Of course, the Taj Mahal was the highlight and even more remarkable up close than in any picture. If the world wasn't so big, we'd go back for sure and soon. Instead we're looking at the Canadian Maritime Provinces for next fall.

We enjoyed our yearly trip to England and the time with family and friends there. I also enjoyed washing it all down with some great real, cask ales. Besides England we made shorter trips to Wichita, Lake Okoboji, Omaha, Chicago, Memphis, Little Rock, and Kansas City.

The other BIG event in our lives is that we have purchased another home and anticipate moving to it in the spring. No it isn't because we've completely finished our present house or that we feel compelled to remodel another house. We're moving simply because we had a good chance to get a great house right on a nearby lake in the Bella Vista retirement village. It may have the best view on the Lake. The trade-offs for great fishing and lots of golf is that I have to give up my large shop and my tractor. Our new address is below at the bottom. We don't anticipate changing our phone numbers or e-mail addresses when we move.

Sylvia will add another 20 minutes on her commute to the local Habitat for Humanity where she works three days each week. She works hard, but will have to slow down. She will be off work for six weeks – until late January and then restricted to lifting less than 25 pounds for at least six months. The Re-Store keeps growing and having record sales. However the economic climate resulted in limited funding for new houses this past year. Hopefully it will be better in the new year.

Jerry doesn't do too much except for income tax preparation with AARP. He has some additional responsibilities this year so it has already started and will go to the end of April. Otherwise he just keeps the homestead(s) in good shape. In addition to the cars to take care of, he now has a new pontoon boat to keep floating.

So you can see that except for the growing number of aches and pains one gets with age, all is well at the Argetsinger house. We look forward to hearing from you this holiday season. We would also enjoy a visit should you find yourself anywhere near lovely Northwest Arkansas.

Again, a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and yours!
